Aaron is a bachelor living a stereotypical life with a decent earning. He works in a bank, managing people’s finances, but he has trouble to manage his own life in late 20’s. Whenever he finds a minute of privacy in his day, he hastily delves into his own fabricated reality: a world of excessive sex, pornography, and masturbation. However, this is a manifestation of his feelings of intense lack of connection (Anorexia-Avoidance), and the loneliness around him.
One day Aaron meets a new neighbor and establishes a connection. This moment lights a spark inside that grows, opening a door to achieve the emotional and physical satisfaction he was longing.
Is Aaron ready to give up his comfort zone?
“Authentic” is a portrait of a person desperately trying to find meaning in the compulsive pursuit of climax. In his quest for satisfaction he either doesn’t see his real desires or ignores it deliberately?

The Academy Award accredited festival, Palm Springs International ShortFest is the largest short film festival and market in North America. This year's 19th festival edition will take place from June 18 to 24.
Renowned worldwide for the extraordinary community of filmmakers it attracts, and for the quality and scope of its programming, ShortFest 2013 will present more than 300 short films from over 50 countries. The ShortFest Film Market will make available 3,000 films to film buyers, industry representatives and the press.
If a film wins one of the nominated categories of the festival, it skips long review process of the academy awards and comes eligible for direct submission.
The 13 minute long drama 'Authentic' was produced within the Advanced Diploma of Screen & Media program and had a premiere screening at the gala awards screening night of the 17th SFS Festival in July 2012 at the Chauvel Cinema, Paddington when it was voted audience favorite and also took home the Best Director award.
A story of sexual discovery, 'Authentic' is a portrait of a person desperately trying to find (or perhaps escape) meaning in the compulsive pursuit of climax.
A sex-addict, Aaron is a bachelor living a stereotypical life with a decent earning. Outside of a professionally appeasing life he hastily delves into his own fabricated reality: a world of excessive sex, pornography, and masturbation.
In his quest for satisfaction he fails to find the reason behind his ultimate unhappiness until a moment of genuine excitement makes it clear that the answer is closer than he thought. All he needs to do is dare to release the authentic self.

"I was also aiming to justify the reason behind the behavior of a sex addict. Sometimes lack of love can make us live in a world of excess, but it’s the decision of putting our real needs as priority that gives us relief and makes us discover the reflection within," says film writer and director Manuel R. Mota.
Born in Venezuela, Manuel grew up in an environment full of international music and arts. He was educated in the engineering field but after the economic crisis, he reviewed his lifetime plan and decided to make a change and follow his real dream. He was awarded a scholarship to study films in Australia (2011 Endeavour Scholarship winner) and after two years he has come up directing 2 short dramas, a musical and a documentary, and performing as producer on his fellow students' projects. Manuel was awarded both 'Best Director' and 'Best Producer' at the 17th SFS Festival.
Earlier this year Manuel's 'Authentic' was taken to the world's biggest short film market - Clermont-Ferrand in France.
